WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CounterStorm announces that it is one of six cyber security companies selected by the DHS Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate to present to an audience of system integrators and government sponsors at its System Integrator Forum (SIF) in Arlington, Virginia, on January 17, 2007, at the Sheraton Crystal City. The goal of the System Integrator Forum is to introduce high-quality, top-performing research companies to large integrators of technology who serve the federal government and private industry. A secondary goal is to foster business relationships that may lead to the commercialization of the presenting companies’ research.
DHS selected CounterStorm as a SIF presenter based upon the maturity of CounterStorm’s technology solution, its relevance to government needs, the commercial viability of its approach, and the strength of its industry leadership. CounterStorm’s signatureless threat detection architecture represents a cutting-edge innovation with the potential to improve the security of the nation's cyber-infrastructure, while also reducing the costs required to protect cyber assets from attacks. Available as an integrated internal threat management appliance or as component technologies, CounterStorm enables ISVs, OEMs and system integrators to expand their offerings with flexible, modular threat detection and mitigation technologies that can be readily integrated to enhance existing systems or create new offerings.
CounterStorm is the first network security company to deliver a solution specifically designed to detect and stop targeted attacks. Its CounterStorm-1 internal threat management appliance is purpose-built to detect and stop today’s financially-motivated and Nation-State supported targeted attacks. CounterStorm-1 combines anomaly-based targeted threat prevention, enterprise-wide visibility, and auto-containment capabilities to detect and neutralize attacks introduced from within the network, preventing cyber criminals from stealing classified information, company secrets or sensitive data.
Each of the six presenting companies has developed their solutions with the assistance of DHS funding. CounterStorm has received two Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Phase II awards from DHS to create innovative and commercially-viable solutions to improve network security for critical networks. The resulting intellectual property consists of a distributed, modular and signatureless threat detection architecture, an integrated correlation engine, and an extensible software platform on which all of these capabilities are delivered. Together, these technologies yield the most accurate signatureless cyber threat prevention solution in the market today, with field-measured alarm-accuracy levels of 90-99%.
Attendees at the SIF will include senior representatives from a number of top tier system integrators like BAE Systems, Booz Allen, EDS, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, SAIC, among others. A number of government agencies will also be represented including the Department of State, Department of Energy, and the FBI.
